Hard to disagree with you Alex. I still remember the first year Mike and I drafted in CBS (2004?)...we picked up starting players in the reserve rounds of the draft, while other owners were making "cute" picks in the teens.

That isn't to say the price on Cozart is poor...I actually had Cozart at $10 on my sheet. One thing I knew - I didn't want to pay par.

Peter's bid limit turned out to be the CBS buying price. $11.

I don't like it. He might earn $11, of course. But he might not. He's not going to earn much more than $11.

In these expert leagues, it seems to me, the strategy is obvious. Nominate anything that's new and blue. Bark a few bids out in the early going, then sit back and relax.

I like Peter's bid. He doesn't have a clear threat behind him: Janish and Valdez. In that bandbox and lineup, he should be very productive.

If I won the lottery, I am sure buying a minor league baseball team would be on my agenda.

I always say that if I won the lottery, I'd give money to tons of charities and volunteer at homeless shelters. But given the fact that I spent over an hour yesterday trying to exactly project Cozart and what he would mean to my team/teams, I suspect that the truth is that I would simply find as many possible NL only teams to join or go off and run a minor league baseball team instead.

Anytime I am close to your bids, Peter, I do breathe a small sigh of relief.

In the Guide I gave him a price of $11, with a projection of .254, 79, 13, 57, 14 in 556 AB.

If that is the case, you just put up a line close to Ian Desmond's in 2010. He earned $18 in 5x5 that year. Because of the issues involved and the question marks, I would say my highest bid limit would be $12 (without having my whole sheet of potential shortstops in front of me here).

I'd project him at about .260, 10 HR, 15 SBs and the RS/RBI that would go with that. Probably 11 to 14 if he's the starting guy full time.
