1-7 7.88 ERA last 10 starts.

Last year gave up 1 HR every 15 IP. This year it's 2.7/15 IP and about the same in 2019. When he does what he is doing this year, he's a 4 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, $18 pitcher. When he cuts his HR number in half, well, obviously the sky's the limit. Maybe he threw harder last year knowing it was low innings for the year?

Kent Ostby Seadogs

Defeated the Angels handily last week, and then last night against the Giants: three walks,  a single, a triple and four homers in four innings. In his last four starts he has an 8.68 ERA.

Allows four runs in six innings against the Dodgers to drop below .500. Padres have lost four in a row and eight of their last ten, now trail the Reds by two games for the second wild card. For most of the season it seemed a given that three teams in the NL West would play in the the postseason.

Yu Darvish (P) SD - Jun. 21
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=786796

Darvish (7-2) beat the Dodgers 6-2 Monday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts across six innings.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Facing his former team, Darvish dazzled by recording nearly four times as many strikeouts as baserunners allowed. His lone mistake was a first-pitch sinker in the third that Mookie Betts launched over the center field fence. The 34-year-old righty now has eight starts of at least six innings pitched and one or zero runs allowed.

Syd is referring to this post by Rotoman 13 hours ago:

BUCK DAVIDSON PAN: He still misses a lot of bats, but an uncharacteristically low homer rate and elevated strand rate during his stellar 2020 campaign tells me to prepare for a significant fallback in 2021.

I'm always happy when someone refers to a comment that only subscribers see, because of course I want everyone else to see what they're missing.

Buck Davidson seems obsessed with those who miss or may miss bats.
