I'm still finding the baseball to be inscrutable. Sometimes it sails forever to the farthest reaches. Sometimes it does at the track. Batters are often fooled both ways, trotting to first discouraged when they shouldn't be, beginning their home run trot when they should be sprinting.

In any case...

Willy Adames (SS) TB - May. 03

Adames went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's 7-3 win over the Angels.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Adames knocked a double and came around to score as part of a four-run third inning. He then took Jose Quintana deep the next inning for his third homer of the season and first since April 12. The 25-year-old shortstop entered Monday in a 2-for-31 slump over his last 10 games.

Just lofted the ball into the right field seats of the Trop.

Anyone have a take yet on what they claim is a somewhat less lively baseball?

If I told you Willy Adames had the 25th best OPS+ for his full two seasons in the majors among all shortstops who have played since 1920, would you believe it?

You can look it up.

See the full list at Stathead.com's Batting Season Finder

Phil Rizzuto is number 29 on this list. Every other shorstop who has played since 1920 has an OPS- in his first two seasons.
