Starling Marte (OF) AZ - Jul. 10

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=742913

Marte (undisclosed) returned to the Diamondbacks' camp Friday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Marte had missed the past four days of on-field workouts for an undisclosed reason, but he was cleared to rejoin the team Friday. It's unclear whether his absence will impact his preparations for Opening Day, but the team hopes that he'll be able to participate in intrasquad games over the weekend.

Starling Marte (OF) AZ - Jul. 09

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=742830

Marte wasn't present for the Diamondbacks' workouts Thursday for an undisclosed reason, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Marte hasn't been seen in workouts Tuesday or Wednesday, and he was once again absent Thursday. Manager Torey Lovullo didn't provide a reason for his absence, and the team wouldn't legally be allowed to say whether it's related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Whether his absence will impact Marte's availability for the start of the regular season remains to be seen.

My big buy in CBS ($35) ... he's been incredibly consistent as a $30+ player when on the field for years, and I have a feeling that getting out of Pittsburgh and into a home ballpark where he has a career 1.085 OPS (albeit over only 15 games) will be good for his head.

Also - chronically a slow starter (.776 career OPS in March/April) ... a start to the season in warmer weather might also be a plus.

Starling Marte (OF) AZ - Feb. 25

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=737915

Marte started in center field and batted leadoff in Monday's spring game against San Francisco. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Marte made his debut for the Diamondbacks, who acquired him from the Pirates a couple of weeks prior to spring training. He's expected to be the team's primary center fielder, although his placement at the top of the order was noteworthy.

In Lovullo's 3 years as D'Backs manager, they've gone from 168 SB attempts the year before he arrived ... to 133 in 2017, to 104 in 2018, to 102 last year.

So while they run slightly more than the Pirates, I wouldn't expect a big rebound in the SB category.

And Noelvi is still available via trade....albeit a very costly one!

Jefry's still out there ... put up a .840 OPS in Japan last year.

D'Backs give up their #7 and #13 prospects ... albeit with 2023 or so ETAs.

For up to 2 years of Starling (3.0 WAR) at 12 million per?  Seems like a pretty nice deal for the snakes.

Arizona has cornered the market on Martes.
