Thread: Stage Four

It doesn’t exist. But we keep hoping.

Mike and Peter, my first (Yahoo! 6x6- OPS and QS; don't ask) draft is tonight. I just downloaded the 3/22 update. Can either of you mention any major changes you made? Unless I merged incorrectly, for example, I didn't see any changes to Soria or Carpenter, which surprised me.

Eugene -- absolutely.

A half day off the day before freeze day and a full day off the day before any fantasy draft.

All paid, of course.

How about a law allowing people time off to prepare for drafts that might be a soon as this Sunday. Keepers due at noon today in that league. I need tomorrow off. Somehow, I just don't see that happening.

If I were King of America, I would pass a law that starting March 15th, every major league team was required to demote one player a day to the minor league camp just so the fantasy sports junkies would have something interesting to talk about every day. #fantasyjunkie #firstworldproblems

Right. The worst thing is not accounting for everyone's newly inflated price, because once that starts happening the actual market prices of everyone left continues to increase. Until you run out of good players, and then the best bad players get paid way too much, or money gets left on the table. Both of those are bad outcomes.

Seadogs- Sorry, just saw your comment.

I mean spend it on high production players. If that means filling out your keeper list with players who are at their inflation price like Miguel Cabrera, Jose Bautista, or Adrian Gonzalez, then lock them in. If it means getting those guys early at their inflation price, get them.

Need help! Missing an owner in our long standing, AL only, 5x5 keeper league. Sorry we can't offer Stage 4. We are in the SF Bay Area so I know that eliminates lots of you. Auction is on the 7th of April in Orinda. Sorry no smokey bars left, gotta outsource for that! You would have a carry-over team, details later if interested. Thanks.

Eugene -- Can you clarify something for me.

When you say "spend your inflation value", are you saying to spend it on other good keepers who are slightly overpriced or are you saying to spend it during the auction on high end players?

Any NL LABR updates?

For me the key with a great freeze list is the make sure you spend your inflation value. It doesn't have to be on studs, necessarily. But, you do have to spend it, rather than burying all of your keeper value at the end of the draft in the backyard. Equally bad to not spending it, though, could be overspending beyond inflation values for specific players (as if there is no substitute), causing any value you had to be negated, thus giving you a $260 team for $260.
