Ryan Yarbrough (P) TB - Mar. 06

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=738915

Yarbrough fired three scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and no walks in a Grapefruit League win over the Pirates on Thursday. He struck out two.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The left-hander continued his stellar start to the spring at the expense of a Pittsburgh lineup that featured multiple regulars, giving him a 0.00 ERA through six innings. Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports Yarbrough threw 43 pitches, 32 of which found the strike zone, and despite allowing the leadoff man to get on in each inning, the 28-year-old was pleased with the extra work those slight struggles allowed him to get in. Yarbrough isn't likely to find out whether his quest for a spot in the starting rotation is successful until the end of Grapefruit League play, but he's certainly making a strong case thus far.

For the record: Yarbrough won on August 11 going one out short of a complete game shutout, then didn't win again for the rest of the season. In his last four starts he gave up 26 hits and six walks over 20.1 IP, compiling a 7.97 ERA and 1.57 WHIP.

Ryan Yarbrough (P) TB - Feb. 12

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=737184

Yarbrough's role isn't certain heading into the season, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yarbrough served as one of the Rays' signature "bulk guys" in 2018 and part of 2019 before becoming a proper starter in the middle of the season. He finished the year with a respectable 4.13 ERA, a 20.8 percent strikeout rate and an excellent 3.6 percent walk rate in 141.2 innings. His eventual role may not matter too much from a fantasy perspective, as he'll still have a chance to pick up wins as a bulk reliever when the Rays' opener doesn't last five innings, and he'll handle a fairly heavy workload regardless of exactly which innings he pitches.
