A major part of the Rangers' comeback.  .290/.331/.540 with 11 HR, 35 Runs, and 33 RBI post All-Star Break.  In May Alex said he was lost, but now he's found.

Completely lost right now, in the field as well. Feeble relay last night on a routine double play that Blanks snags on the bounce, errant toss on a routine grounder that even Blanks has to leave the ground to catch. At the plate he swung at pitches that no major leaguer swings at.

Triple A is in the manifest.

I totally support any rule change ideas that would reduce the PCL "fire sale factor" ...

We basically use the ADL rules in my AL home league, though we tweaked the traded players rule to $10 for pitchers (w/fewer than 5 saves) and $15 for all others.  I think it's a great rule.  So is the # of freeze limits----people in the bottom third definitely play harder (and don't totally punt the season) to avoid losing freeze slots.

While I've been enjoying the PCL, the fire sale factor is considerable, and I don't like that aspect.

I like that last one.

One other, very substantial drag on fire sales: players with salaries under $15 who are traded in-season have their salaries bumped to $15.

A drag, like I say.

I'm on it.

In the American Dream League, if you finish with fewer than 35 points, you lose one of your Waiver Dollars (you start with 50) the next season for each point below 35 you end up.

The last place team gets four freezes, 11th gets five, 10th gets six, 9th through 4th gets seven, 3rd gets six, 2nd gets five and 1st gets four.

Until this year the team that finished last would get the last reserve pick in every one of the seven reserve rounds. We changed that so now they get the 8th pick (5th gets first and so on down to 12th, then 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st gets the last reserve pick.

These aren't devastating, but they're enough to keep you focused even when you don't want to be.

Hey Alex,

I'd love to see the penalties you guys use.

Glad I wasn't in Globe Life Park last night. I would have watched two of the motley Moose (we now call them the Caboose Moose) go 0-for-8 with four strikeouts. Other being Logan Morrison.

What can I say? It was a night of abject hitting futility. The team was shut out, even though it scored two runs (this is 4x4 we're talking). No homers, no steals, no runs batted in, a batting average of .148.

In only 27 AB. That was the worst part.

DID NOT PLAY: JAbreu, ARamirez, MCanha, EKratz, RLavarnway, JParedes, MNapoli

EKratz and RLavarnway were the best I could do when DNavarro and JF-ingJaso went down.

Moose have dropped down to 28 points. From the caboose to the next car is 12 points.

Can I get off at the next stop and let this train wreck go it's merry way?

I cannot. There are penalties for finishing last and serious penalties for finishing last with less than 35 points.

Ingenious. If your league has a problem with fire sales each year, I'll send you the details.

Meanwhile I might as well get some good theater out of this. Bragging about your teams brings bad luck. Eveyone knows this. Though not everyone can resist bragging.

Maybe incessant whining will bring some good luck.

Yep. I'm going to keep him.

Last year's reserve picks can be kept this year for $10. And that's it. In 2016, when Rougned will more likely than not be a very good bargain at $10, he gets thrown back in the pool. Chances are we'll know how to pronounce his name by then.

This year, as we see by the two unbiased bids above, he's hardly a bargain.

That doesn't mean I'm going to give him to you, Walter.
