Not only were the MLB stars no-hit, they lost their third straight game. The five-game series is already decided.

There seems to be the distinct possibiltiy that even I will now be able to post links that work. That's progress!

Can't get the comment link to work, when I try it, it puts it in a weird looking window below.

Let me try again: ESPN Story

Okay, it worked this time, but I didn't say "Open In a New Window"

Guess who's now a half game behind the A's?

Robbie Cano's team. It's a shame that only 29,000 Seahawks fans visited the stadium next door to watch the M's scratch out a 4-2 victory.

Or blast it out. Cano, Morales and Morrison homered. Cano's skipped off the top of the wall in left, Morrison's curled around the foul pole in right.

It seems fireworks erupted over at Century Link when Morrison homered.

Seahawks fans? The hard core?

A soccer crowd. The Sounders scored a goal.

Might have been more people watching that game. I haven't checked.

Yeah, I wonder what round that was. Someone had $29, and didn't want to go to $31? Weird.

Only $30 in Tout? Playing it too safe in Safeco, methinks.

The new Seattle second baseman ranked 16th in the majors in LD% and 13th in slugging average (minimum 400 plate appearnces).

Don't be fooled by the close correlation. Gregor Blanco was fourth in LD% and in slugging average he was 20th -- from the bottom.

Here's the same order of descending LD percents by groups that's shown on Loney's page, but with the average SA in place of the average BA:
0.437
0.463
0.404
0.432
0.428
0.408
0.440
0.428
0.441
0.459
0.440
0.412
0.426
0.415
0.414
0.409
0.390
0.404
0.414
0.423

There is a connection -- but it's hardly a close connection -- between hitting a lot of line drives and displaying a lot of power.

None of the ten best line drive hitters in baseball last year (shown on Joe Mauer's page) had a slugging average over .500.

In the second tier of LD percents (shown on Jason Werth's page), Werth and Freeman join Cano.

In the third tier (under Trevor Plouffe), it's back to one (McCutchen).

You don't see more than one again until the seventh tier (shown under Prince Fielder), where David Wright and David Ortiz have plus-.500 slugging averages.

Pete Kozman had a better LD% than Big Papi.

Signed a ten-year, $240 million deal with Mariners in December.

Of course you knew that.

But we've turned the page and I hate to see it blank.
