His pitch velocity - both fastball and slider - have been dropping slightly over the last couple years.  Don't know if there's something mechanical to work on, since 30 isn't that old for a starter.

OMG the Mets got two starters for slightly less than the Yankees paid for one!

To Mets on a 1 year, 10mm deal.

That gives them 6 starters under contract.

I never liked him; it seemed like every time I watched him pitch, he was behind to EVERYBODY.  And when he had the monster year, I was all, "Well, I don't know anything about anything."

This one's for Ron Shandler.

22. Rick Porcello
Position (bats): RHP
Age (as of 4/1/20): 31
2019 team: Red Sox

Observation: Look, you probably have plenty of opinions on Rick Porcello: Former Cy Young Winner And Owner Of 5.52 ERA In 2019. All I’m saying is that the baseball has been very obviously juiced in two of the last four seasons: 2017 and 2019. Here are Porcello’s DRAs in each of the last four seasons:

2016: 3.37
2017: 4.84
2018: 4.02
2019: 6.06

I don’t want to say it’s as simple as “Juiced ball = Porcello Bad; Unjuiced ball = Porcello good.” But I’m not NOT saying that.

Prediction: Trying to think of the most hilarious landing spot for Porcello and- OH GOD IT’S THE METS.

Asked during the game today what it was like to come out of the bullpen in the eighth inning of Game 2 of the ALCS: "I went from eating sunflower seeds to practically choking on them."

Pitcher No. 22 in $5x5 (both leagues).

2018 Statcast Averages

NP: 920

Pitch Type: Two-seam FB

Avg Pitch Speed: 89.8

Avg Spin Rate: 89.8 (92.5 is average)

Avg Exit Velocity: 89.0 (88.4 is average)

Less than one mph difference between velocity and exit velocity. Great d in the outfield obviously helped him but the Red Sox infield was a big minus (according to Defensive Runs Saved).
