I might not have phrased that well. Pujols should play as long as he wants to, he's earned the right. I'm saying he stayed too long to go down as a career .300 hitter. It's a shame, because I think we all think of him as a .300 hitter.

I don't know Andy about "stuck around too long." With owners willing to pay you deep into dotage, I would call it cashing the checks as long as they arrive.

Seemingly to make a mockery of all things math, he hasn't hit over .300 since 2010, yet still has a career .298 batting average. 

"Stuck around too long", rather than lack of competence will be the reason he doesn't enter the Hall as a .300 hitter.
