In 43 trips to the plate as a pinch hitter, he hit .359, slugged .513.

Easily worth $3 million if he can repeat that.

Rounding out Ken Davidoff's top 40 free agents:

40. Albert Pujols (1B, Age 41)

Baseball’s active leader in pretty much every offensive category wants to keep going.

Prediction: Cardinals, one year, $3 million

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=809730

Pujols (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran slugger was placed on the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday while experiencing some side effects from receiving his second dose of the vaccine, and he'll rejoin the active roster after only one day. Pujols has appeared in 16 games (three starts) for the Dodgers in September, going 5-for-21 with two homers, five RBI and three runs.

I have four leagues where he will be up for bid this year. What's the bid here?

Seems like Milwaukee would make some sense with their hole at 1st base.

Interesting to see who Albert falls between on this list.

It wasn't obvious then that decline would come, or when, but everyone but Arte Moreno knew it would come at some point. I've been in plenty of parks when Pujols was working the stands before games, he's a great player and great promoter. He may have even paid off for Moreno. But obviously in Roto Dollars it was a bad deal.

In the fall of 2010 you had this debate?

I would have taken the position, "Are you kidding me?"

DFA seems a little cold, even with the nice note from Moreno. What a terrible contract.

At First Pitch in 2010 Nick Minnix and I had a cage fight presentation about whether Pujols was past his prime. I had the "not quite yet" side and nailed it. But Nick's arguments look better over the years.
