Seven scoreless against the Royals: five hits, no walks, 11 strikeouts. Sixteen called strikes, 18 foul balls, 21 swings and misses.

Only 14 pitches put in play, so bad luck on the BABIP front.

Left the game ahead 2-0, but the Royals scored two in the 8th.

The couple extra days rest (thanks to a couple Washington rainy nights) seems to have served Corbin well, as following a 1st inning HR to Scott Kingery he breezed through the next 6 with only a dollop of trouble (a beautiful play by Parra in CF saved a run when he scooped a grounder up the middle with his hand and fired a strike to 3rd to throw out Harper going 1st to 3rd).

They got him out after 7 today, with 101 pitches.  Perhaps they are learning.

Last year - perhaps because of concerns over his loss in velocity - he pitched past the 7th inning all of 3 times.  He completed the 8th inning once - his only complete game.

This year - maybe because they're paying him so much money, maybe because the Nats bullpen is so sucky - he's already had 3 starts where he's pitched into the 8th, and two starts where he completed the 8th (including his complete game).

His ERA in starts following an 8 inning outing is 11.73, with a 2.6 WHIP.   The hangover from his complete game lasted a little longer, as he was beat up again yesterday.

After committing to this guy for the next 6 years, you'd think the Nationals would be paying a bit more attention to their investment.

Carved up the Mets last night. Made Cano look especially helpless.

Watching him carve up the Giants today (ok ... no big deal there...) I dropped in to see how his 2019 #'s looked up to this game.  3 starts, 2.84 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 24 K's ... only good for $2 in earnings?

Wow, wins do play a huge part in pitcher value.

Two pans, no picks in the Guide. The Cooks' is shorter.
