His second homer of the game, the team's sixth, isn't quite enough as the Twins go down to the toothless Tigers.

Let the record show that on the last day in August, the Twinkies set a new major league for home runs in a season.

Garver's .619 slugging average is surely one of the best ever by a catcher with 250+ AB.

The Twins hitters just couldn't keep pace with the Orioles hitters. Garver cranked one out last night (for the only runs of the game in Minnesota) but the Orioles served up six -- six -- homers to the Red Sox in Camden Yards.

They entered the day tied for the leads in home runs hit and home runs allowed with 132.

Which is more surprising, seven home runs in early May or batting .367? It all adds up to slugging .783.
