Four pitchers toeing the mound tonight are 3-0 in their last three: Wacha, Lester, Stripling and Kluber. It will be interesting to see how they fair.
They can't all go to 4-0 because Wacha faces Lester.

Currently no-htting the Pirates after 7 innings and 97 pitches.
He's been amazing today...I can't see the Pirates getting solid contact now. They have not all game.

You got a steal. There's a lot to like in his numbers, especially when you subtract the last outing when Wacha had thrown six scoreless innings and the idiot manager Methany had nobody warming up in the bullpen and the Cubs knocked him out with five runs in the seventh without an out. His season ERA went from 3.86 to 4.14 in an inning that he never recorded an out. Thanks Matheny. Anyway, his peripherals, increased velocity, increased strikeout rate, most innings in two years, no injury problems, lower walk rate and a high BABIP all suggest his ERA will come down to around 3.60-.3.75, possibly better this year. A lot of folks see him as a sleeper candidate.

What is the early word on bid prices for Wacha this year? I acquired him in a trade mid-year last year and his $3 salary looked to have some very nice upside. But by season's end I was far less optimistic.
