Picked up win #15 last night, tossing eight scoreless innings and striking out 9. It's the 12th game this season in which he has struck out 9 or more batters in a game.

He has really turned it around since the beginning of August. In his last 5 starts he is 5-0 with a 1.03 ERA, 0.971 WHIP and 44/9 K/BB ratio. A little reminiscent of Fister's late season stretch for the Tigers last year.

Yeah, it's mid-March ... but lit up yesterday by a Mets lineup that was missing Duda, Davis, Wright, Bay, Torres ... 4 H/2 BB/3 ER in 2.2 innings of work.

Otoh, Valdespin was in there!

In 5x5, you have to like that his K/BB ratio improved. He gave up a lot more hits. Part of that could be Peralta at short and nobody who could field at 2B most of the year. Plus, wasn't Inge waived for a while? The infield defense in Detroit appears porous although I'm too lazy to check DER. And then Delmon Young was added to watch balls fall into left field. How did Verlander do it?

He was on my long list of pans; didn't make final cut.

BABIP rules! Three Picks, no Pans in the upcoming Fantasy Baseball Guide 2012.

If you're wondering why the best starting pitchers earn less in 5x5 than they do in 4x4, look no further.
