I dealt for him right at the turnaround point. 117.7 IP, 1.99 ERA, 9.561 Ratio, 114 Ks, 8 Wins. Not that I'm going to keep him at $28, but boy he's been worth dealing a $6 Matusz.

One of the greatest turnarounds I've ever seen over the course of the same season.

Max Scherzer is a bright guy . . . maybe too bright. Here's a great take on his approach to pitching:

This lawyer thinks they're not mutually exclusive. He wasn't punished when he was sent down. He was sent down to work on a mechanical issue. Specifically, that issue was his arm wrapping around his body too much. It was a complex issue that he had to work on, but he was hungry and was able to accomplish the mechanical fix quickly.

Don't worry. Only leagues with daily transactions got those stats. Everyone else had him on reserves.

Two quite different explanations for Scherzer's outing on Sunday.

As Max tells it: "My arm was wrapping too much around my body -- it's very complex, but I needed to shorten my arm action."

Jim Leyland: "I think he was hungry to get back here, and it shows. Sending a guy down isn't punishment, it is hopefully to get results like this."

Lawyers would find supporting arguments for both sides in the Toledo results. In 15 IP: 4 H, 1 ER, 0 HR, 2 BB, 17 SO.

All but two of the 14Ks were swinging strikeouts.

Triple A must not have agreed with him.

MLB did not condense this game. Too bad.
