If at first you don't succeed... go the other way.

Good article in the New York Post about the contrasting hitting approaches of the two teams that have made it this far.

There's no arguing with the data that says the sac bunt, in all but a few situations, is not a good play. But bunting against the shift with no one one and your team trailing by a lot (or a little or even none)?
I'm with John Smoltz: batters have to teach themselves how to do that. At the very least, a lefty hitter will bring the one fielder on the left side closer to the plate, decreasing his range. As it is, the third baseman plays shortstop, leaving the pitcher to field a bunt that almost never happens.

His 1.013 OPS at the break is fifth in the majors. He doesn't have quite enough plate appearances to qualify; his adjusted OPS, adding enough ofers to qualify, drops him to ninth in the majors, between Machado (.963) and Freeman (.938).

King of the Solo HR.

Hit two bombs in his first two AB's last night against Nova, giving him 20 HR's on the year.
With 20 HR's in his first 183 AB's as a Dodger, he becomes the fastest Dodger to reach that plateau in the teams storied 134 year history.
Muncy never hit more than 12 HR's in any minor league season above A-ball.
Again I just shrug my shoulders - see Gorkys Hernandez thread.

Only Sickles would write: "His exit velocity is up significantly, 90.8 mph compared to 87.8 in 2015 and 83.2 in 2016; getting into the whys of that is beyond my paygrade."

Someone in left field has a souvenir.
If we didn't have the spray charts at Fangraphs, I would swear the majority of home runs are being hit to the opposite field this year.
