Peter, I've always done both.

I forget Gene, do you play auction in NFBC? Or draft?

I agree he's for real and the odds are very high that he will be better this year. But he could hit .300 and score 58 Runs. Look at last year, 37 in 130 games. The RBIs will be better but is he going to drive in 80? Not unless he hits more home runs, so that's the bet when you reach for Wieters. I think those prices are just what the market will pay....Wieters is more interesting in drafts than in auctions this year. He will be picked all over the #65 to #165 range. And BTW, you guys should ALL be in the NFBC. It's where the best players play and you guys should ALL be among the best players. And it is really fun.

I hit send an eyelash too early - he just went for $16 over at CBS. Mauer, IIRC, was $31, Martinez high 20s. We're still in the first quarter of the day.

It's more like everyone is going double-or-nothing, again. Well, a lot of people are. I hate paying growth-expectant prices, and I don't think Wieters will be all that discounted yet. This type of player is almost never on my roster.

Granted, there are many ways to build your make-believe team, many ways to compete and to win.

It looks like everyone is banking on the third year breakthrough. I am too.

Last year was disappointing, but I think you can really count it as confirmation that he's for real. He has some growing to do, and I'm not sure you can count on the power coming this year, but his price is going to go up because enough people think it might. And they might not be wrong.

Not sure how I found my way from Kotchman (who I don't own, and don't WANT to own) to Wieters (who I don't own, and almost certainly won't own). I guess you could make the case that Kotchman was once the hot new flavor, as Wieters was LAST year . . .

Is it just a coincidence you are posting on him just after you posted on Kotchman? Curious minds want to know.

In a league with several crazed Orioles fans, I look forward to the bidding this year. I think AP's bid will be about right
