Tue, Sep 15 - Chapman underwent successful surgery Tuesday on his right hip.

It was a labrum repair, per A’s trainer Nick Paparesta, and the
surgeons also did a little cleanup on his femoral head. The rehab
process is expected to take around 16 weeks -- or about four months --
which means that Chapman should be fully ready to rock for the beginning
of the 2021 season. The 27-year-old third baseman finished with a
.232/.276/.535 batting line, 10 home runs, and 25 RBI over 37 games in
2020.

Went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI to lead the Athletics past the Diamondbacks 5-1 on Thursday.

Chapman punished an Alex Young chest-high fastball in the first inning
for a solo shot to get the A's on the board, and he hit a Yoan Lopez
hanging slider even harder for a two-run dong in the eighth. The
two-homer game was his second this year and gives him eight home runs,
20 RBI and 18 runs scored in 26 games to date. (Rotoworld.com)

Jim Bowden at The Athletic:

Cactus League Predictions

Northeast Division

Oakland Athletics
The Athletics wouldn’t have to worry about once again being the bridesmaid to the Astros with this setup. The A’s won 97 games each of the last two years but finished in second place both years, so they’d be excited to be out of their division and would become heavy favorites to win. This year’s team might actually be better than the last two because their starting rotation is finally healthy and their young starters are all looking ready to have breakout seasons. Oakland has one of the best defensive teams in the game with Gold Glove-caliber players all around the diamond and has the firepower to out-homer teams on a nightly basis.

Another great year in the field and another solid year at the dish.

Turns 27 in April.
