23 months younger than Madison Bumgarner
18 months younger than Rick Porcello
8 months younger than Shelby Miller
6 months younger than Julio Teheran
12 months older than Jose Fernandez
Which is to say ... I HOPE, given all his hype, that he's on the fast track. Bumgarner already has 115 regular season starts ... Porcello 149. Miller and Teheran were solid starters at younger ages than Appel will be entering 2014. He's got some catching up to do!

24 Mark Appel
Houston As tros – SP
He was the number one overall pick
in 2013 and has no experience above
A-ball, but could be on the fast track to the majors.
Rob Blackstien believes Stanford’s all-time strikeout
king will likely benefit from the extra year in college
as he’s stronger and more durable now, making him
much more prepared for the rigors of the pro game.
He very well could be my first pick (I have the second pick overall) in the American Dreams reserve draft.
