Does this raise Mallex' price (or ADP) in upcoming drafts?

Mallex Smith (OF) SEA - Apr. 20

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=740769

Smith made a strong impression on guest outfield instructor Mike Cameron this spring, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Cameron notes Smith was one of his best students in spring camp, which also featured guest appearances from past franchise luminaries such as Ken Griffey, Jr, Franklin Gutierrez and Ichiro Suzuki. The speedy outfielder demonstrated "tremendous" improvement in defensive drills, which consisted of fielding live balls off the bat of Suzuki. Smith sported fielding percentages of .984 or better at all three outfield spots in 2019, but Cameron's assessment implies the 26-year-old could be even sharper this coming season. "He's starting to put things together, showed a lot of improvement and Chris Prieto (former outfield coach) contributed a lot to that as did the fact that Mallex works so hard," Cameron said.

Smith sold for $19 in CBS. And he just went for $15 in LABR.

Those leagues are 5x5 - and I play 4x4 where Smith's stats are worth more - but even with about 15% inflation, I think I have a good chance of buying Smith for less than $28.

I project his value at $22 5x5.  That's what he earned last year and considerably less than what Peter projects him to earn.  I give him 550 AB with a .250 Bavg and 50 SB. My projection isn't far from Peter's 73 R, 6 HR, 42 RBI.  But, in my closed system of projections, those stats only earn $21.98.

FWIW, Trout earns the most in my projections at $35.56 (Rotoman projections $36), Lindor and Jose Ramirez are next at $31.16 and $31.06 respectively (Rotoman projects both at $32).  Because those three are so close, I think it's important to consider my lower value for Mallex.

Depends on the inflation rate in the league and your other freezes, of course. But, especially if you assume as Rotoman does, that Smith won't hit .227 again, it seems like the answer is "yes, freeze him."

Would you freeze Smith at $28 in AL-only?

I project Mallex to lead the AL in SB with 50.  Big drop to Mondesi with 41 and another big drop to Bo Bichette at 31 in 3rd.  The rest of my top 10: Jose Ramirez, Mercado, Kyle Tucker, Luis Robert, Merrifield, Andrus, and Lindor and Danny Santana tied for 10th.

The Wise Guy points out in the Guide that Mallex experienced "a curious defensive collapse, from +3 DRS to -12 DRS. Which gives him two paths to not playing."

And gives me hope that I might get him. I hate paying serious money for a one-category player but I might not have to.
