Luis Severino (P) NY-A - Mar. 25
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=13248

Severino tossed 1.2 innings in a Grapefruit League game against the Phillies on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks. He did not strike out any batters.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Severino struggled mightily to get the ball over the plate in his second spring outing, throwing only 22 of 49 pitches for strikes and issuing four free passes. When he avoided throwing balls, the right-hander was hit relatively hard, yielding two doubles among his four hits allowed. Severino is penciled in to fill a rotation spot for the Yankees this season, but he's struggled in both of his spring outings thus far, allowing a total of seven earned runs, eight hits and five walks over 3.2 innings while notching only one punchout.

Luis Severino (P) NY-A - Feb. 10
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=812218

Severino said Thursday that he expects to be ready to handle a starting pitcher's workload to begin spring training, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Severino missed most of the 2021 campaign due to elbow, shoulder and groin issues, but he returned to game action in late September and struck out eight in six scoreless frames across four relief appearances. The right-hander recorded 30-plus starts in 2017 and 2018 and appears to be ready to rejoin the Yankees' rotation ahead of the 2022 season.

Rotowire last fall:

Two scoreless frames in return
September 22, 2021
Severino pitched two scoreless innings against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out two.
ANALYSIS
In his first major-league game action since 2019, Severino gave up a double and a single but no runs while covering the final two frames of a New York victory. The right-hander registered five swinging strikes among his 30 pitches and averaged 94 mph on his fastball, per Lindsey Adler of The Athletic. The velocity was a few ticks below his norm prior to undergoing Tommy John surgery, but that isn't necessarily a concern considering Severino's long layoff. He's expected to continue working out of the bullpen for the remainder of the campaign as he gets re-acquainted with pitching to big-league hitters.
