The snowbirds must not have moved south yet.

Only 13,000 in the Trop to watch the Yankees edge the locals, 3-1. Severino outpitched Archer. Greg Bird also comes up big.

Keith Law offers some distant (Double A) hope to Yankee fans.

The Yankee's farm system has been
hit by injuries and thinned by trades over the past two years, but
there's a strong collection of prospects at their Double-A affiliate in
Trenton this spring, especially on offense, with the Thunder scoring 31
runs through their first four games. Three of the Yankees' best power
prospects are here, with top overall prospect Aaron Judge in the
outfield, catcher Gary Sanchez still working on his defense and former
catcher Greg Bird still working on his fielding at first base. Eric
Jagielo, taken in the 2013 first round along with Judge, probably would
have reached Trenton last year had he been healthy all season. The
Yankees' top pitching prospect, right-hander Luis Severino, is the star
of their staff, which mostly comprises older pitchers; Johnny Barbato,
acquired from San Diego for Shawn Kelley, is in the Thunder's bullpen.

Once again, the stat feed is seriously messed up for some pitchers and a little messed up for all of them. We are waiting for the return of our programmer to figure out why.

He's listed at 6-foot, 195 pounds, but he throws in the high 90s and has secondary pitches that carried him from High-A to Double-A last season, without a blip. Given his age it wouldn't be surprising if the top Yankee prospect was slowed down a bit, but he has the talent and arm to force the issue, especially since he's already shown superior Double-A results (25 innings with 29 strikeouts and 6 walks, 2.52 ERA).
