LVW stat of the day.
In his next start after allowing 3 or more ER...he has allowed 4 ER in 31 1/3 IP for a 1.15 ERA.

Interesting Home/Road split
Home 1.69 ERA BB% 10.3% GB% 63.9%
Road 3.21 ERA BB% 14.97% GB% 44.8%
He must be making a conscientious effort to keep the ball on the ground at GAB.....and with a better walk rate.
This leads to 2 questions...1) what's the correlation between the home GB% and BB% and why isn't he pitching the same way on the road.

Walked six last night and still came away with the win against the Astros. He's walked almost as many in 15 starts as he walked in 31 last season. He gets lots of grounders (57/17/26 G/L/F) and most of them have been scooped up (.242 BABIP).

This is, as LVW says below, what a "breakout" looks like!
Here's the back story ... I'm just bum'd that Colin Rea was not healthy, or he'd be a Padre today ...

Win No. 3 yesterday clearly without his best stuff. Eight hits, no walks, only two strikeouts over six innings. First-pitch strikes to only 12 of 24 batters. Nine called strikes, 21 foul ball strikes, nine swinging strikes. Lowered his ERA to 1.23.
His BABIP before we get today's feed is .212.

Not often do you see a 5-to-1 strikeout to HIT ratio.
Apr 10 '19
Allowed 2 ER or less in 10 of his last 12 starts.
Primed for a breakout in 2019.
