Two of my best AL only keepers are Lance Lynn and Liam Hendriks. It could have been otherwise---NL signings would have been disastrous. Instead, one will compile saves for the other's wins.
Or so one hopes.
It's a pretty complicated contract. It's $39M/3 years, but with a $15 option in the 4th year, or a $15M deferred buy out if the WS don't exercise the option. It's not clear how long the deferral period extends, but it may be like a Bonilla deferral, meaning $15M paid out over 15 years some time in the future. But, unlike Bonilla, it may have a zero percent interest rate, which serves as a negative rate.

And the winner is... the Pale Hose!
Three years, $54 million.
What a bullpen. I'm buying any starting pitcher I think can get through five.

There have been a number of second and third tier relievers who have signed this off season. But, the premium reliever on the market, plus Brad Hand, who is probably #2 despite being waived and unclaimed at only $10M/year early in the off season, remain unsigned.

Interesting idea. You desperately need another starter, like everyone else? The free agent market is saturated with relievers? Okay...
