That's awful.  One of my favorite people in all rotoland.

Adding my condolences to the others', We didn't always agree, but I always respected him and the way he presented his arguments.

As a regular visitor to this site, I always enjoyed Slyke's comments.  My condolences to his family and to the Patton & Co contributors who knew him personally.

Slyke was a truly great contributor and from all I could tell a truly great guy.

Very sorry to see him depart.

Very, very sad. Keith not only was a frequent and passionate contributor here, but he carried the Patton & Co banner in the CBS league. He is already missed.

Sad news earlier this week. Our Patton and Co. friend Slyke passed away unexpectedly. Keith was a big Pirates fan and a delightful contributor to this board for many years. He will be missed, may he rest in peace.

Apparently, they really know how to celebrate in Japan.

"The Softbank Hawks beat the Seibu Lions tonight, 6-5, and won the
Final Stage of the Climax Series. They will advance to the Nippon Series
for the eighteenth time in franchise history and face the Hiroshima
Carp. The Hawks are the first non-first-place-team in the Pacific League
to advance to the Nippon Series since Lotte in 2010.

The Hawks
celebrated their victory by going through 3000 bottles of beer, four
barrels of sake, sixty bottles of sake, and 480 bottles of cola in about
twenty minutes."

I like the ADL resolution -- no new activation/waiver availability (NL leagues traditionally do it on Tuesdays, dating back to when we got stats from USA Today) but as it is the continuation of the regular season, there's no good reason to exclude the stats. I don't think it's at random, though I could see an argument for allowing Monday waivers/acquisitions if that's the usual practice. (Our league is much more restrictive than many, so there's a financial penalty for acquiring a free agent at this point.)
