Thread: Latest News

Company news, mostly, but also baseball in general.

Welcome! You are invited to wander around and read all of the comments that have been posted here at Patton & Co., but as soon as you register you can see the bid limits that Alex, Peter and Mike propose for each player, and you can post your own comments. Registering is free, so please join us!

A new feature for subscribers: if you prefer not to see Peter's projections in the stat scans now that the season is well under way and the 2015 stats are the main event, go to Settings on your account page and uncheck the box that says Projections. Projections will no longer be displayed.

Fixed. (It was still working on the profile page, but that new download page needed a little more code to make it go.)

How about, instead of a Manfred thread a MLB News thread, for discussions about current events that don't involve players directly?

I'm hoping after this initial bit of shift-banning idiocy that we won't really hear from Manfred until the CBA talks start.

I'm up for a "Manfred" thread also ...

Here's a link with latest ... "manfred-sort-of-backs-off-banning-shifts" ... and has a few links to the backstory.

The idea of banning shifts struck me as massively absurd ... still does ... meh ...

I guess the general concept I prefer is to have rules which reward players with broader skills ... that makes me anti-DH, for example, as I want to reward players that can both hit and field well enough to be in the game ...

So I like shifts ... they penalize hitters who have less skill (ie. they can't hit to all fields) ...
