Kevin Newman (2B) PIT - Nov. 30
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=811916

Newman agreed to a one-year, $1.95 million contract with the Pirates to avoid arbitration Tuesday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It was Newman's first year of arbitration eligibility, and he was able to reach a deal with the Pirates without needing an arbiter. The 28-year-old broke out in 2019 with a .799 OPS, but he's struggled over the past two seasons.

Bingles galore last night.

Rotoworld:

10.01: Kevin Newman went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Friday, helping to lead the Pirates to victory over the Reds. (Newman delivered a two-run single off of Michael Lorenzen as part of an eight-run uprising in the eighth inning. It was a rare strong offensive night for a player who has struggled for most of the season.)

Put me in the "what the hell is a bingo?" camp. It's "bingle." I have to say that I am joined in this great cause by the Merriam Webster Unabridged Dictionary:

1 bin·gle

 noun \ ˈbiŋgəl \
inflected form(s): plural -s

Origin of BINGLE

probably alteration (influenced by 3bing) of single

Ah. I've always heard it as bingo. So is a bingle a single?

Kevin, you should at least hit some dingles.

I've never seen/heard "bingo" ... I have seen/heard/said "bingle" ...

Four bingos last night raise his batting average to... .216.

He's slugging .265 before the stat feed and all the bingos were singles.

Or is that what a bingo is?

It could be worse, you could have picked Josh Rojas. Just dropped Rojas for another Josh — Harrison.

"Killing it in spring," getting killed now that it counts. 0-for-4 yesterday, dropping his average to .167, his OBP to .182.

BABIP .176

G/L/F 70/6/24

SO% 5

He's getting his bat ever so weakly on the ball.

He's my hitting equivalent of Zach Davies in Doubt Wars: picked on the basis of his great spring training. When will I ever learn?

"Killing it in spring" is now an understament ... 3-for-3 today to raise ST BA to ... .741!!!

Killing it in spring. Might be a buy low candidate with people focused on his 2020 line where his BABIP showed bad luck.
