Continues to improve on those walk rates. A little pop, great wheels with SB upside, run scored potential, and a solid OBP. I like what I'm seeing from Marte since the July callup.

I still don't know where he might fit in AZ, but he's still scorching hot in AAA.
10 hits in his last 4 games has his average up to .422, with just 6 Ks in 116 ABs.

Followed up a 3-5 Wednesday with 4 hits yesterday. Currently hitting .432 and waiting for an opportunity in Arizona.

As you may have guessed, I'm waiting as well.

Still showing here with Mariners instead of Dbacks ... this note today from rotoworld ...

Ketel Marte finished 2-for-3 with four RBI in the Diamondbacks' Cactus League loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

Marte jumped all over A's starter Sonny Gray with a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. Acquired from the Mariners in November as part of the Jean Segura trade, Marte projects to open the 2017 season at Triple-A Reno. He'll be up with a sizable role eventually.

He could be good eventually. His 2015 was encouraging and everyone likes steals. And the scouting types like him a good deal.

But a career 700 OPS in the minors that includes 400+ plate appearances in the PCL gives me pause. Yes, he was young for the league, but even so that's not the kind of performance that makes me want to run out and buy someone whose ceiling is the good version of Erick Aybar.

Keep in mind that this criticism has more to do with what I presume is The Guide's (and most of the "industry's" audience) than it does with Marte. In AL-only, he's a great guy to grab on reserve or at a $1 or $2 in leagues where you're permitted to buy minor leaguers at auction. In a 18 or 20 team mixed, the same concepts apply, though likely in a draft.

His current ADP (309) isn't ridiculous, but that puts him in the active portion of a 15-team draft. I'll pass and take Brett Lawrie for my MI slot instead.

But to get back to the original point, four picks for Marte because he's young. You're absolutely right that Arizona is jammed, and can afford to give Marte a year in the minors, especially because of the d, but on the other hand he is part of the return in a big deal, and he's young with a decent (not great) ML track record. We have to worry about the D and playing time, but that makes him a better play on the cheap (if others worry).

That is so right Mike. Hard to imagine why Alex isn't on Twitter now. A fine medium for him, short and to the point, poetry not prose, but I'm afraid he likes to look at each idea from all angles. Like poetry from a different angle.

Alex was one of the pickers.

Alex's best book comments played a lot like Twitter long before there was Twitter.

I agree, a pan is in order. What were all those pickers thinking?

The next player, Starling Marte, gets two pans, no picks.

While meanwhile this guy gets four (!) picks.

There's a good chance he spends most of the year in AAA. The Diamondbacks have better options up the middle, Marte is very young, and his offense needs refinement.
