They weren't nearly as nervous last night in Los Angeles. But they were nervous.

Los Angeles Dodgers - Kenley Jansen bounced back with a scoreless ninth inning in a Dodgers 1-0 win to pick up his 22nd save of the season.  It was an encouraging outing for Jansen after three straight blown saves, and the Dodgers (and fantasy owners) will hope this gets him back on track.

Hierarchy remains: Jansen | Treinen | Kelly.

The relay shows that Vosler was safe -- game not over.

The overhead camera shows that Ruf's bat went too far -- game should have been over.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Yikes. After another blown save Thursday, Kenley Jansen has now allowed seven earned runs since Wednesday (!) and eight overall this week after giving up just five all season. Thursday’s loss wasn’t all his fault, though. The Giants’ Jason Vosler was originally ruled out at second for the game’s final out but that was overturned on replay. Then, Darin Ruf appeared to go around on a checked swing on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded, but the third-base umpire ruled that Ruf held the swing and sent him to first, enraging manager Dave Roberts, who after the game said, “I don’t think all the blame should be on Kenley.” While he’s kind of right, we’re talking three straight blown saves for Jansen since the break. So, will there be a new closer in LA? Not quite yet, as Roberts steadfastly supported Jansen after the game. Still, we’ll keep a close eye on the situation. Stay tuned.

Kenley Jansen (P) LA - Jun. 18

Jansen pitched a perfect inning to notch the save in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran closer didn't fan any batters in the outing, but he threw 10 of 13 pitches for strikes and had little trouble setting down all three hitters he faced. Since blowing a save due to an unearned run against the Cubs on May 5, Jansen has held opponents scoreless in 15 of 16 appearances and has gone a perfect 12-for-12 in save opportunities.

Gets four outs to preserve the one-run advantage in another seesaw game with the Pads. Tatis came to the plate with one out in the ninth and runner on second, grounded a single into center field. Except... Muncy was standing just to the left of the bag and the ball five-hopped into his glove.

“It was a fun game to be part of," said Dave Robersts. "We threw the ball well, took good at-bats, created stress and got a couple big hits.”

Without the couple big hits -- the biggest a bases loaded single by Seager in the sixth -- the Dodgers would have encountered their first three-game losing streak since 2019.

$13 in LABR, $1 more than Brad Hand.

I''d love to report that they went to the same team, but Kenley went to Fred Zinkie at the end of Round 3 and exactly 12 players later Hand went to Scott Wilderman.

Starting with Josh Hader as the last player in the first round, every 12 players, sure as shooting, a closer was nominated; it's a safe guess that whoever was doing this had no intention to spend as much $10 on a closer, probably didn't want one period.

Was Fred tempted to say $13 as the bidding for Hand was about to end? I would have been.

The most interesting thing in the percentiles, to my mind, is the comparison of FB velocity to FB spin.

Kenley Jansen (P) LA - Mar. 17

Jansen has thrown five scoreless innings this spring, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out nine.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The veteran closer faded during the playoffs last season and watched Julio Urias record the save in the clinching game of the World Series. However, the Dodgers appear committed to allowing Jansen to reprise his role as the team's closer this season, and the right-hander has justified the organization's confidence in him with a shutdown spring. Jansen ranked in the 90th percentile or higher in a variety of Statcast metrics last season, including xERA, xBA, xSLG, exit velocity and hard-hit rate, so he could be a value for fantasy managers who draft him with the belief that he still has something left in the tank.
