From July 24 2019 to the end of the season he struck at the most AL hitters, 128. Gerrit Cole struck out 121 and Mike Clevinger struck out 104.

Justin Verlander (P) HOU - Jun. 15

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=741339

Verlander (groin/lat) posted a video Monday on his personal Instagram account featuring him throwing a bullpen session. "Ready. Let's go!!" Verlander captioned the video.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Though the Astros have yet to confirm that Verlander will be ready to pitch when the MLB season resumes, the two-time Cy Young winner's ability to complete a bullpen session suggests he's moved past the groin surgery he required and the mild right lat strain he developed during spring training. Verlander will presumably ramp up the intensity of his throwing sessions at home in the next few weeks before likely reporting back to the Astros with few restrictions, if any, when teams are allowed to reconvene.

Verlander (groin) has begun to throw, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: This was Verlander's first baseball activity since undergoing right groin surgery March 17.

If there was ever a good time to have groin surgery for a pitcher, or anyone else, I guess it would be now.

The team barred a reporter from the clubhouse in August at Verlander's request? What's that all about?

Another bit of news (to me) in this article: Nolan Ryan quit as an advisor because the owner elevated his son and demoted Ryan's in the front office.

Not long after Verlander and the luscious Ms. Upton went public, I was watching him pitch one night, and she was sitting behind the dugout.  When he finished the inning, he rolled the ball across the roof of the dugout to her, and the look on her face was every girl's who REALLY likes a boy, and he just did something cute.  Not that they need my support, but I root for those crazy rich kids.
