Glad to see him having this year. I have to admit that I thought he wasn't going to live up to the hype. This may be a one good year scenario or it might be a real break out, but glad he's taking advantage of it whatever it is.

And the deluge continues - suddenly on pace for a 30+ type year.

Over his last 3 weeks, hitting. .375 with 8 HR and 23 RBI.

I had questions over keeping him at $17 ... now definitely wishing I'd extended him!

Ever since I cast aspersions, he's been pounding the pea. Two singles, a double and homer yesterday to plate five. Eighteen hits, ten for extra bases, four times touching them all, knocking in 15 in his last 11 games. Nine runs, if you play in 5x5. Five free passes, if you're in an enlightened league that has switched to OBP.

Thanks to all those runs, he's earned $8 in 5x5, same as 4x4.

Before we get the stat feed.

Grounded out to first in his first AB with no one one, then fanned in his next three AB, the second with runners at the corner and one out, the fourth with runners on first and second, two outs, the team trailing 2-1 in the 8th. Never took anything less than a mighty a cut. Pathetic, if you ask me.

Josh Bell (1B) PIT - Mar. 24

Manager Clint Hurdle said Bell will "absolutely" be the Pirates' cleanup hitter in 2019, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Bell has primarily hit fourth throughout his career, so this should be nothing new for him. The first baseman owns a .200/.231/.360 with a pair of homers through 17 games this spring.

Another way to put it: the bids are limits. On your sheet your limits should add up to the league's budget. If you buy every player at your limit, in theory you don't get any profits and your team finishes exactly in the middle.

That's the theory. In practice, you of course could go over limit for every player and still finish first if enough of your players end up having better years than anyone expects (except you).

Real-Joker is talking about John Benson's optimum bids. They did not add up to league budgets. As a result, quite a few Bensonites found themselves with money to spare at the end. I doubt they still do.

For me, put it this way. You want him. Hope it doesn't take $20 (and I'll have to cogitate whether I'd go that far) but there is a $25 season coming. This year? Maybe.

Plus, first base is terrible. And Bell is not. Plus he's better in OBP leagues. All things to consider.

Megary has a sharp eye.  Probably a Benson-bump.  Age 26.

I'm confused here.  Seems like these bets are taking out any chance for profit.  There is some good in those interior K and BB numbers but considering the hype is pretty low, I find it hard to believe anyone would have to pay for the upside.

12-14 seems more reasonable.
