He was hitting okay and, I thought, based on the games I watched, fielding more than okay. But his dWAR this year is -1.4.

Cut by Angels
September 3, 2021
Iglesias was released by the Angels on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Iglesias lost out on playing time to Jack Mayfield recently, and he'll now be let go by the Halos. The 31-year-old appeared in 114 games in 2021 and slashed .259/.295/.375 with eight homers, 57 runs, 41 RBI and five stolen bases. Mayfield will continue to serve as the primary shortstop, while Iglesias will seek out other opportunities to close out the regular season.

Rotoworld:

08.07: Jose Iglesias went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Friday.  (Iglesias had himself a big day at the plate on Friday against the Dodgers. He put the Angels on the board in the fifth inning with a solo homer off of David Price. With the game tied 2-2 in the tenth, he drove in the go-ahead run with a double off of Garrett Cleavenger and came around to score on a base hit by Jack Mayfield. The insurance run would prove to come in handy as the Angels went on to win 4-3. The 31-year-old shortstop is hitting .273/.301/.391 with eight homers, 38 RBI, and four steals over 379 plate appearances. )

I followed Eugene's advice and, lo and behold, he's on track for his usual $16 season.

Cost?  $7.

Exactly. Someday that will end. I wish we had the Heath numbers that showed how many teams that rostered folks like Iglesias won. And lost. No reason he can't do it again, but anyone reading the .400 OBP as a plus is going to be disappointed.

He's like Mark Buehlre for me. Always costs about $8 and earns about 16. Guaranteed profit because nobody likes his power or speed.  He's merely an everyday accumulator because his glove keeps him in the lineup.

It's interesting that Jose is near the bottom in barrel rate and exit velocity last year and still comes out at the top in xBA and in the top 20 percent in xSLG. In other words, batting .373 and slugging .556 weren't flukes when the quality of contact and ferquency of contact are objectively measured.

I suppose the explanation is the 166 LD%+ coupled with high contact rate.

In any event, Jose is again stinging the ball this spring, slashing .300/.300/.700 in eleven games in he Cactus League.

$1 in CBS.

(CBS + AP4) / 2 = PK5

Good job, Peter.

Which is to say my price is totally unnecessary, so I will knock it down in the March 4 update.

If they had a mulligan, CBS would reconsider.

Jose's acceptance speech for his .373 average.

I would like to thank BABIP(.407), Camden Yards(.411), East Division pitching and defense(5.01 Runs allowed per game), and line drive rate(36%) for this honor. I know I'll never see any of you again.
