After three straight Quality Starts, all of them high quality, he's given up nine earned runs in his last two games (nine IP). But he's got a winning record on the worst team in baseball in the first half.

Won 4, lost 3, 3.99 ERA, 1.37 WHIP

67.2 IP, 74 H, 5 HR, 19 BB, 50 SO

BABIP .329

G/L/F 52/20/28

The Marlins today have a lower winning percentage than the Astros, but they've only played 79 games. And they only get outscored by 1.1 runs per game. The Astros get outscored by 1.4 runs per game.

Pythagoras says their record should be 29-52. It's actually 30-51.

The Mets' record is safe for another year.

His schedule since the shellacking hasn't been all patsies, though the Mariners he crushed tonight are. Patsies, I mean.

I bought him on June 4 in the ADL. So far so good. Though better if strikeouts counted.

Has he finally turned the corner? Since that shellacking the Rangers gave him on May 12 he's 2-0 2.05 ERA in 30 2/3 innings; 5 starts; 18/8 K/W.

Part of this run of success is due to his LOB% going from 65% last year to 75.9% this year.

Collectively the baseball intelligence of the group that comment on here is well above average.

Got the W against the Angels. Got pounded today by the Rangers. I guess we collectively knew what we were doing.

In the ADL four teams are tied for first in wins with 18. Four other teams have 17.

Not one of them could see their way to claiming Jordan Lyles yesterday.

He starts tonight against the inept Angels. A lot of us could have handled that. But he's also slated to start against the Rangers on Sunday. We collectively lost our nerve.

IDK where in 2011 because he didn't reach the 100 IP limit I set; but it was 61.2% last year and 65.0% in 2011.

In view of his GB%, the surprise is his HR/FB% wasn't higher. Kept the ball in the park in the minors. But of course he's now been plagued by gopheritis both years in the majors, so it's hard to say what to make of this.

Where did he rank on LOB% as a rookie?

In any case, this way of looking at players seems to raise interesting questions about pitchers as well.
