John Means (P) BAL - Aug. 17
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=800146

Means (5-5) allowed seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and no walks while striking out seven across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Rays.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Means was undone by two long balls, one a two-run shot and the other a three-run homer. He worked through three scoreless innings, but surrendered six hits across the fourth and fifth frames to account for all the damage. This start continued a trend of short outings for Means, as he has failed to complete five innings in each of his last two starts and has gone three outings without reaching six frames. Despite the recent downturn, he still has a 3.44 ERA with 94 strikeouts across 102 innings.

Sun, Jun 6 - Orioles placed LHP John Means on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain. The southpaw left Saturday's start after just 2/3 of an inning with
shoulder fatigue and this trip to the injured list was a foregone
conclusion in order to protect the Orioles ace. It is unknown how long
Means is expected to be out as Baltimore is still waiting the results of
an MRI. The 28-year-old was having a spectacular season, posting a 2.28
ERA and 0.83 WHIP over 71 innings with a no-hitter mixed in.

Some surprises here on Memorial Day.

I wonder why Means is ahead of Cole, who is significantly better in all three true outcomes in the same IP?

Stathead, still trying to get his head around John Means.

Note: Means' performance was only a no-hitter and not a perfect game because of allowing one runner to reach base on a third-strike wild pitch.

Lowest ERA in a Baltimore Orioles pitcher's first 7 starts of the season (since 1954, when the team moved to Baltimore)

If he hadn't thrown the wild pitch (striking the batter out), would his game score be 100?

Meaner today. 26 first-pitch strikes to 27 batters.

Watching the condensed games, Means looked meaner than Cole, which is saying something.
