Always great when a team messes a guy up for the sake of pitch counts.

Speaking of which, I can't wait to analyze the Texas experiment in pitching more.

Starting, but limited to 4 innings or fewer, he is of no value, and certainly less value than just about any pitcher. He can't pick up a win in these circumstances. Kyle Farnsworth has more value, any mop up reliever for the Nationals has more value. And that's not even taking into account his utter ineffectiveness.

Waived in my league too. Sitting on the waiver wire today, and I don't expect a taker.

He was waived in my league last week. Whoever picks up him would get him at $17 on the last year of a long-term contract. The rub is that if the team that picks him up doesn't keep him they'd have to pay a penalty.

I'm guessing that he doesn't get picked up.

With the pounding he took at the hands of the Mariners - the Mariners - on Sunday, moved back into the red. Couldn't get a fastball by Ken Griffey - Ken Griffey - on a 1-2 pitch.

Re: Slyke's comment about Joba's velocity.

Joba's problem lately doesn't seem to be that he's fading late in the games. His problem seems to be that he can't consistently throw in the upper 90s. He was hitting 97 on the gun yesterday, but his average fastball came in at about 93, which means that he probably was throwing some 90-91 MPH heaters at some point.

Had no idea he is negative for earnings although I knew he wasn't a big help to my staff. Had it on the radio and the Detroit announcers went from unimpressed to impressed as he got stronger striking out at least five in the last two innings. They indicated he was not going to his baseball early.

Hitting 96-97 MPH on the gun into the 7th today.

Just needs to work on his command and could be a decent play the rest of the way.

Liriano's margin for error is greater, that is why you pay more. Sure, the bad outings take a toll on your stats, but the small-market club sticks with such players longer, potentially rewarding those whose faith remains.
