Quite a difference between Fangraph's BABIP and the one we are showing. Ours, I believe, was taken from an old issue of the Baseball Forecaster.

If Fangraph's formula is better, we can use that one instead.

As I suggested last year, Kipnis just keeps getting better. He seemed to tire at the end, but that was one fine year of power and speed, hitting and onbase. May it only get better.

Meanwhile, interesting sidelight on the Indians' woeful attendance this year. Reported The Plain Dealer's Hoynes: Indians' ticket revenues showed an estimated 20 percent increase despite the franchise ranking 28th out of 30 big-league teams in attendance. Revenues went up because the Indians discounted fewer tickets this year.

His first-inning home run stood up in the game in Cleveland this afternoon. Indians lineup has a nice mix of speed and power, top to bottom.

The dynamic double-play duo supposedly is going to bat two-three in the lineup this year, with Kipnis three.

Tyler Kepner's "narrative" for the Indians this year:

CLEVELAND The focus will be on the champion manager (Terry Francona), the intriguing pitching prospect (Trevor Bauer) and the former Yankee with a smile as wide as Chief Wahoo’s (Nick Swisher). But the team’s best asset is the dynamic double-play combo of Asdrubal Cabrera and Jason Kipnis.

True.
