So funny, man, and so true for all of us sometimes.

Me (March 25th): "Going into the auction with Taillon, Nola, Pivetta, Reyes, and Steckenrider, that's a pretty solid pitching staff".

Me (today): "Fantasy baseball sucks".

Both Lester and Taillon left with injuries.

Lester's hit was a double, so that makes it slightly more explicable.

Weird doings in Chicago today. Taillon had two outs in the 2nd, no score as of yet when Descalso reaches on an error. Then, for some unknown reason, they decide to walk Heyward intentionally to get the Cubs pitcher Lester.

Lester promptly gets a run-scoring hit, and then, after several more batters, the score is 6-0 Cubs.

Then, in the bottom of the 2nd, Brault pinch-hits for Taillon and gets a single. After Frazier also singles, Lester is taken out of the game. Both pitchers gone before the end of the second inning, one of them had a 6 run lead. I'm assuming Lester is hurt here.

My big question is this: is it common nowadays to walk the #8 hitter with 2 outs and only 1st base occupied? I thought you were supposed to bear down and get the #8 hitter out and then you'd have the pitcher leading off the next inning? Stupid decision, and might have been responsible for 6 runs.

According to Fangraphs, that slider that Taillon added was on May 27th.

Before May 27th, he had a 4.56 ERA, after it was 2.71

Is this the career path that Tyler Glasnow is following?

Andy thinks it might be.

Not me.

In the 2019 Guide, hitting newsstands now:

GIANELLA PICK: He always had the raw ability,
but it wasn’t until Taillon added a 90-mile-per-
hour slider to an already devastating fastball/
curve combo that he finally showed the ace
potential that made him the #2 overall pick way
back in 2010. Taillon enters 2019 healthy and
should deliver ace value at a non-ace price.

PIANOWSKI PICK: I love the name, makes me
think I’m drinking in some New York speakeasy.
This is the year Taillon pushes into the Cy Young
conversation, even if it’s in some Brooklyn cel-
lar at 4 am. One for the road.
