For his second career home run, hits an 0-2 pitch off Tony Sipp in the bottom of the 11th this afternoon. The second-place Tigers needed this win over first-place Astros.

There have been only two inside the park home runs in a player's first at bat. Luke Stuart in 1921 and Johnnie LeMaster in 1975. Wikipedia doesn't recognize the Stuart feat, which is listed at the Baseball Almanac.

Baseball Reference doesn't seem to have Inside the Park homers identified as such, which is strange.

3 things that normally don't go together came as one today courtesy of this man.

1. Catcher

2.1st career HR

3. Inside the Park HR.

Yep, that is how it went down, Alex.

I was surprised the owner who called him out for $1 went to $3, especially since it was about mid way through the auction, as I recall. I think it was Rotowire who got him, and he did comment in the chat room after the pick that he liked him this year.

McCann going for $3 made me feel a little better about my pair of $1 catchers (Suzuki/Vazquez).

A $3 good thing in CBS last week. Someone nominated him, someone else said $2 - ha! The other someone said $3 ha HA!

I'm guessing. Slyke and Texpope can correct me if I'm wrong.

A solid defensive catcher, he blossomed with the bat in Triple-A, at least a little. The batting average is no doubt jacked by an elevated BABIP, but a little power and a little speed from a backup catcher who isn't destined to hit .205 is a good thing.
