I think the key will be(besides health obviously) will he keep the gains he's made on lefties the last 2 years. .519 and .587 OPS after .870 and .794 in 2016 and 17.

Will all the adjustments he made as an Astro carry over to Yankee Stadium? Because as amazing as he was last year ... and good as he was in 2018 and 2015 ... a fairly pedestrian 2017 isn't that far in the rearview mirror.
Other warning signs for me include 250 innings pitched this year through the playoffs, with an awful lot of high leverage innings at the end. And a fly-ball right handed pitcher moving from Houston to Yankee Stadium.
But there's no team I'd rather see spending that much money ...

An offer even Scott Boras couldn't refuse.

9/324 to the Yankees

Among Joel Sherman's many reasons why the Yankees will get Gerrit Cole:
"Cole also is close with his sister, Erin, who passed the New York bar last July and lives in New York."

And I'm almost certain (Clevinger thread) who your third guess would be.

As we wring our hands over who in the world can possibly afford Gerrit Cole...
In November, Fox signed a new seven-year media rights deal with MLB beginning with the 2022 season that is worth almost 50% more than its current eight-year deal with baseball on an annual average rights fee basis. That bodes well for subsequent deals with baseball’s other national media partners, WarnerMedia’s TBS and Walt Disney’s ESPN. Those two agreements also expire after the 2021 season.

I hadn't realized the Yankees were already past the luxury tax.

Which isn't to say Howie wouldn't have won the battle against Greinke too. But I'm not losing the World Series with middle relievers. I still say Grady Little wasn't wrong, even if Pedro was pointing to the sky or whatever.
I'd love to be able to hear the mutterings of Koufax or Gibson or any of those guys when "ace" starters get back slaps and high fives for 5 or 6 innings of work.

Billy Dee Williams would approve.
