Pre-inflation or post-inflation?
In my 10x280 NL-only, I paid $23 for him. The real question is if I should keep him next year.

Another example of Stage Three Hell (first is in Arrieta thread) that is revealed in MikeG's current article at BP. Five different prices for Gerrit Cole last spring (real and imagined):
CBS 18
LABR 18
Tout 20
MG 18
PK 18
Irrational exuberance displayed in Tout.

Got off to a shaky start today against the Indians, albeit not all his fault, and fell down 3-0 after three innings. He settled down and retired the last 16 batters he faced, including Jason Kipnis in the 8th inning, when he hit 100 MPH on the gun while being north of 100 pitches.
The Pirates got to Salazar in the 5th inning for 5 runs and Melancon toed the rubber in the ninth to secure Cole's league leading 12th win. Cole's velocity late in the game even opened the eyes of the Bob Walk in the broadcast booth....he was locked in today. It was 16th time in his 17 starts this season he has allowed three runs or less.

What was most impressive about his start today is that he did not have his great stuff, but still went 7 scoreless innings with 7 K's over 116 pitches to get his league leading 9th win. His command was off, he walked the most batters in any game this season and he hit Freeman and Simmons (and almost hit Jace Peterson as well, which led to the customary retaliatory throw at McCutchen in the 7th inning). Not sure if it was the heat and that he spent 20 minutes on the bases in one inning, but Cole was not his dominant self yet still gutted out a great performance. That's what you need from an ace.

On track for a $30 season although it's always hard for me to believe in breakout seasons.
Even if it gets cut back a hair and he hits mid 20s, he will be well worth it.

Solid outing in his penultimate tune-up. Two earned runs but only four baserunners in five innings. 74 pitches all told. Talked like the young vet that he is fater the game.
"I threw some good ones and quite a few bad ones. The spin on the breaking ball was good. I got that down today. The next step with the breaking ball is starting to locate it better."

Got him for my sheet price in CBS at $18.
I am a little more optimistic than Peter...I think he puts up a $20 season this year.
