Freddy's fastball averaged 93.6 this year, compared to 90.8 the year before.

That's the biggest mph increase of any pitcher in the majors who threw a minimum of 50 innings.

Virtually every pitcher had some increase in velo and virtually every pitcher allowed more homers per flyball. In Freddy's case the trade-off was especially unfavorable.

I'm not the only one who's whining. Keith Hernandez on SNY can't believe the way batters don't or can't adjust.

The rise in velocity has something to do with it; it's not all their fault.
