Back from Covid, and continuing to improve.  If you take away his first ugly appearance of the season - he's now at a 2.54 ERA.  If you take away both outings against the Braves this year - ERA is down to 1.83.

Take away 2 outings v the Braves (I benched him in my home league for the 2nd Braves game) ... and his ROTO line is:

32 2/3 IP; 2.48 ERA, 1.01 WHIP,  32 Ks, 3 wins/2 losses

Listening to the Nats broadcast yesterday - they're mulling what will happen when Strasburg returns.  Might even try some bastardized 6 man rotation where Scherzer floats around to pitch every 5th day.

Since his disastrous first start  (5 ER, 1.2 innings) ... the 2014 first rounder has a 2.61 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.  Control is still a concern - 8 BBs in 20 2/3 innings - but he's racked up 24 K's over those 4 starts as well.

.208 BABIP over that time is likely unsustainable - but he's keeping the ball on the ground a lot (51%) with a 60% medium contact rate ... meaning there's a lot of easily fielded balls hit to the infield.  Average fastball velocity up to 94 mph this year.

Might be his cutter - he averaged 16% cutter rate the last 3 years, he's up to 28% this season, which is good because it's far and away his most successful pitch this year.

I like finding stud pitching prospects who languish around for a couple hundred innings before they figure things out, and threw a few bucks at Fedde this week.  Last night was very nice, though his next matchup he gets a rematch with the Atlanta lineup that roughed him up in his first outing.
