I'm working on Big Prices for the Guide. Today I have Eduardo Nunez with a price of $12. What do you think?

In "Radio Days," Woody Allen's 1987 homage to old-time radio, he has a character who spins wildly embellished sports stories like Bill Stern did decades ago. One of the mythical stories is about a major-league pitcher (loosely modeled after Monty Stratton) who loses an arm, a leg and goes blind, but keep on pitching in the majors. That is who Nunez reminded me of in the 13th inning last night.

I don't know if I can remember such an amazing effort from a player in the World Series...and I'm using the word literally (often "effort" is used to convey "performance") I thought Nunez was going to have to be dragged off the field

No clinkers since. From Tyler Kepner today --

“We knew we were going to have a good team — good lineup, good chemistry, good energy — but not that good,” said third baseman Eduardo Nunez, the only Red Sox hitter with a home run so far. “We can beat you with homers, defense, pitching, base hits, stolen bases. I think we have it all.”

But I think Eduardo's getting ahead of himself (while providing fodder for the other team's bulletin board). And I wonder if Tyler has heard of the plexiglass principle.

By the time the Red Sox return to Boston, they should have their fourth Commissioner’s Trophy in the last 15 seasons. They have won all five of their road games this postseason, and seem poised to clinch the title on Vin Scully Avenue. The Dodgers, who fell in seven games to the Houston Astros last fall, would be the first team to lose consecutive World Series on its home field since the New York Giants in 1936 and 1937, both to the Yankees.

Yep. Like to say it was a typo but it wasn't.

What's a "clinker"?  Don't you mean clunker?

A clinker by the Red Sox last night. I can't imagine Nunez starts again at third.

It's a double off the top of the left field fence.

No it's a homer on review and he joins the club.
