Bowing meekly to the Angels last night, the A's lost their seventh in a row at home.

From the game notes:

Jefferies (1-6) allowed five hits and two runs in six innings. He's the first A's pitcher to lose six straight since Vin Mazzaro in 2009.

Daulton Jefferies (P) OAK - Mar. 26
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=14272

Jefferies has allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits over 5.2 innings in his first two Cactus League outings while also recording six strikeouts.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: As those numbers and the .379 average Jefferies has allowed in the sample indicate, the young right-hander has pitched to no shortage of meaningful contact. However, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports that Jefferies' sinker was particularly impressive in Saturday's outing against the Guardians, sitting consistently between 94 and 96 mph while being deployed on 36 of his 54 pitches. The 26-year-old, who's projected for a spot on the back end of the starting rotation to open the season, is satisfied with where he is at this point in his ramp-up, despite the crooked numbers. "I feel like everything is pretty consistent," Jefferies said. "Velo is there. I'm ramping up pretty well. I can go out there and pitch with confidence knowing that my arm is going to feel good. That hadn't been the case in 2018 and 2019."
