If I were a Corey Seager owner, I really wouldn't like seeing him in this competition. I do have Jose and Julio and I really wish they weren't.
I also have Alonso but he's different.
Home Run Derby Line-Up
The Home Run Derby participants have been announced. The competition includes two-time winner and reigning champion Pete Alonso; Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (who was also announced as an All-Star replacement for George Springer); and Albert Pujols, owner of 685 regular season dingers. The 2022 stats for the eight hitters are below:
Jul 15
Strange the Blue Jays are playing a four-man outfield against Seager when he hits so many balls on the ground.

I'm reviewing the free agent signings as Peter, Mike and I work on the Projector that will be rolled out onto the showroom floor next Wednesday. Here's a nice chart that summarizes everything quite succinctly.
https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/
When the music stopped on Dec. 2, free agents had signed for an average of 2.32 years at an average annual salary of $14.9 million.
Corey's at the top of the list -- and it's not even close -- for total worth of the contract, but Max beats him for annual salary, and in fact that's not close.

Another batter who battles with two strikes.
The percentiles (higher is good):
K% 79
Whiff% 26
The other batters being Harper and Guerrero.
Clearly, shortening up and trying to make contact with two strikes leads to a better batting average.
I suppose that's self-evident, but it's a concept that eludes most modern hitters.

If I were Correa, I'd consider it a good thing. To me it sets $300+ million as a floor for offers. Any team that thinks of coming to him with an offer below that knows that they won't even be taken seriously now. He may not top Seager, but he certainly won't be far below.

Do Carlos Correa and his Agent consider the Seager contract a blessing or a curse....or a bit of both?

32+ mil a year for 10 years for a SS who has a significant injury history to date?
A lot of reasons to say thank you for your service ... and take the draft pick.

He slashed .328/.430/.528 in away games.
With runners in scoring position he slashed .338/.440/.513.
Trea Turner's their shortstop now but even so, I don't understand why the Dodgers didn't top the Rangers or anyone else.
