Corbin Burnes (P) MIL - Jul. 06
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=14264

Burnes allowed three hits and one walk while striking out 10 across seven scoreless innings Wednesday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Burnes dominated the Cubs the entire outing, generating 26 swinging strikes on 100 total pitches. That was enough for him to record his sixth double-digit strikeout effort and fifth scoreless effort of the season. After this performance, Burnes has a 2.20 ERA with a 134:26 K:BB across 106.1 frames on the campaign.

Good thing I didn't bet against Burnes last night; he's now 4-0 in his last four starts. The Brewers' bats gave him a 7-0 after two, a 9-0 lead after four, and he didn't give up a hit to the Pirates until one out in the sixth. Final score: 19-2. "It's awalys nice to get some runs," Burnes said.

You heard correctly Howard. Incredible.

Command was not quite there. All of his pitches were as nasty as ever.

Anyone else notice the empty seats in Wrigley on Opening Day?

On the other hand, if the Cubs keep playing this well (they won't), the fans will pack the place as soon as the weather warms, and it was a fun game to watch. The audio pitch signals do seem to help the pace of play.

If I heard (and remember) the announcers correctly ... struck out 58 guys last year before issuing his first walk ... walked the leadoff hitter this year ... fun facts :-)

Returning to Burnes (as I look at the percentiles at Baseball Savant), maybe six different percentiles give a pretty good picture of a pitcher's "stuff."

HH% 94

K% 97

x ERA 99

FB Vel 81

FB Spin 100

CB Spin 92

If you add all six together, would it be fair to say whoever had the highest total had the best stuff?

Should there be a seventh percentile, BB%? To show that you have good command of your stuff?

I might have to get out a spreadsheet and look at this.

The 192 total is second in all of baseball.

I would say, Guess who first is? But I'm posting that next and most people read the comments as they appear in Recent.
