Rotowire:
While Texas was able to put runners on base, Sale made sure to keep the visitors off the board. He threw 49 of his 71 pitches for strikes, a lighter workload than the 89-pitch effort he recorded in his season debut last Saturday. Boston is likely to be cautious with its ace as he continues to build himself up in his comeback from Tommy John surgery. The southpaw is projected to make his next start versus Minnesota next week.

If you're in a protection league that allows trading, I'd say he goes for at least $15 because of his dumping deal value.

"Half speed for half a season" would be $8.
But let's say you can keep him in 2022? How much more do you raise that $7-8 bid?

$7 in CBS.

Neck problems might be pushing back his return via Jeff Zimmerman's latest "Mining the News" at Fangraphs. He's among a few others in the AL that should be cheap keepers for 22: Verlander, Sevy, Giles, A. Munoz, Y. Chrinos. And that's before the inevitable ST injuries hit. Once camps open next week these guys can be placed back on the 60-day DL, which in theory should open up more 40-man roster spots for signings.

Chris Sale (P) BOS - Dec. 15
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=762030
Sale remains without a clear timeline for his return from Tommy John surgery, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Sale underwent the procedure in late March. A typical recovery timeline would see him back on a big-league mound sometime in the middle of the 2021 season, though it's difficult to predict his exact return date with any precision. While manager Alex Cora declined to give a timeline for the lefty's return Tuesday, he did note that his recovery was coming along well.
