Smart move by the Astros, if for nothing more than goodwill with Carlos.   He can't suck, right? And even if he does, only $20k.  Wow.

J.C. Correa (SS) - Jun. 18

Correa said he will sign with the Astros after completing a physical in Houston, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Correa, the younger brother of Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, recently completed a four-year stint at Lamar University. Like all collegiate players, Correa's 2020 season was cut short due to the pandemic, but during his last full season at Lamar, the shortstop led the Cardinals in batting average (.332), hits (74), doubles (14), home runs (10) and RBI (44).

It's important to remember that original memo about electronic stealing said that GMs and managers would be punished for violations, not players. Maybe that was anticipating not wanting to knock heads with the union, but it was laid out in advance.

Manfred still handled it badly.
