Carlos Correa (SS) MIN - May. 06
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=12451

Correa (finger) underwent a CT scan Friday that didn't reveal a fracture, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Correa was initially believed to be dealing with a non-displaced fracture in his right middle finger after being hit by a pitch Thursday against the Orioles, but the finger is ultimately just bruised and sore. President of baseball operations Derek Falvey said the shortstop is considered day-to-day for now, so it's possible he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. Royce Lewis was called up from Triple-A St. Paul and will start at shortstop Friday against the Athletics.

Carlos Correa (SS) MIN - Apr. 28

Correa went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in a 7-1 win Thursday over Detroit.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Correa delivered the big blow in a 2-1 ballgame when he hit a double that plated three (one scoring because of an error) in the fifth inning. He added an RBI single in the sixth and another single in the eighth. It was his first three-hit game as a Twin and just his third multi-hit game on the season. His three RBI matched his season total going into the game and the double was his first extra-base hit since April 12. The performance raised the two-time All-Star's batting average to .200 for the year.

I should read the Associated Press recaps more often. Lots of interesting stuff in them.

CORREA'S COMMITMENT

Carlos Correa reiterated his interest before the game about making his stay in Minnesota more than one season. The All-Star shortstop, whose three-year, $105.3 million contract has an opt-out after this season and next, said he has expressed as much to team officials.

“It’s about happiness, right? I show up every day, and we’ve got a great group of guys to work with,” said Correa, who struck out all three times he faced Tigers starter Eduardo Rodriguez and is batting .179.

Whitlock and Joe Ryan looked terrific against good lineups.

First game as a Twin today in Fort Myers.  Garrett Whitlock STARTS for the Red Sox.  Might be a buzz in the crowd.

Well, he very well might have said no, expecting more from the organization he's been part of.  All of the financial/baseball analysis forgets the human component sometimes.

Local Houston sports radio is outraged that the Astros didn't match the Minnesota deal.  They are citing Verlander's $25 million as a comparison.  Why not $10 million more to keep Correa?  I agree.  I didn't wanna pay him $340 MM, but c'mon.  $35 MM per for his best 1-3 remaining years??  Why not?

3 years at 35.1M each and an opt out after each season. So likely a 1 year deal to get through this time unless he gets hurt or really loves Minnesota. Very Bauer like contract.

Switched agents and is now a Boras client (as are Seager, Bryant, Rodon, Castellanos, etc.).  Boras is gonna be a busy guy when the lockout ends.  Correa's former agency is strangely trying to buy up minor-league teams and may be decertified for doing so.

Speculation: the Dodgers after they send Trea Turner to the Yankees who need little more than a one year rental at SS.
