They are going to ride him like a broken mule until his free agency years. There is no way the Nats allow another team to see his potential bloom regardless of what they can get for him.

Or Oscar Tavares and Carlos Martinez?

Interesting ideas ... I do like / understand / agree with the Justin Upton comp ... both still have time to get better ...


There certainly is a way they trade Harper if they decide he's not going to get better ... we may disagree ... but if they do decide that, then they're fools to not trade him to whomever disagrees the most :-)

There is NO WAY they're trading Harper. You don't trade talent like that at the major league level at that age and get a comparable return.

How's the Justin Upton trade working out for Arizona now.

He has not had a good year, and his hitting mechanics are all screwed up. It's as if he is almost jumping at the ball. He comes out of his swing so hard and fast. He plays out of control all the time, in every facet of his game, and it's clear he has become a distraction to Matt Williams. It would not surprise me if they end up trading Harper for a young arm and hold on to Denard Span."
